Members are the life blood of HSUPS. This has always been the case and is particularly so now that we getting very close to our ambition of owning a unit and running it on a heritage railway. Please consider joining us.
H&SUPS members receive a half yearly magazine (Diesel Fumes) and news updates when significant news breaks. In addition to this Web site, these publications help keep members up to date on restoration progress and fund-raising activities. Diesel Fumes aims for a broad range of articles and stories of interest. Contributions - written or photographic - are always welcome. The membership fee aims to cover the basic costs of running the Society (especially our insurance) and the production costs of the magazine and newsletter. Preservation activities are funded almost entirely through other fund raising activities.
We are very keen for Society members to take an active part in the Society whether that is in restoration of the stock or helping on the stand at sales events. No particular experience is necessary. However we realise that not all members are able to directly assist and we remain immensely grateful to those who contribute through their membership. A concessionary rate is available for those under 16, 65 or over and those currently unemployed. Discounts are also offerred for three year memberships.
Meetings, including the Annual General Meeting, are held about twice a year. Most of these take place at the Eastleigh Railway Institute. We aim to make thse social events as well as updating members on progress and seeking guidance on and endorsement of policy.
