Work is progressing steadily at Rampart Engineering, Derby on the restoration of the power car 60122 from unit 205023. Much of the external passenger section of the coach has been restored to a very high standard but the engine section has to be started on.
The work that has been done so far is to the highest standard with bodywork being completely replaced in places and many new pieces welded in. New door frames and pillars have also been built from scratch. The roof has been thoroughly examined and repaired so now needs to be made weatherproof.
The engine still needs to be examined and repaired and the body section also needs to be worked on to the same high standard as the passenger half. Several bodyside fixtures and fittings need to be replaced and much of the driving cab equipment has to be put in place as well. Also, there is much work to be done on the interior but some of this we can undertake ourselves once we have a permanent location for 60122.
