A number of vehicles have been acquired by or on behalf of the Society when they have come up for disposal. These acquistions have targeted the short-term objective of having a DEMU running on a heritage line and on longer term objectives. These pages provide a status report on these vehicles.
H&SUPS owns 60122, the power car (DMBS) from
unit 1123 (205 023). External restoration was carried out professionally, and the vehicle
has now been moved to Isfield, on the Lavender Line, where HSUPS members will be able
to work on restoration of the interior and mechanicals.

Driving trailer (DTC) 60822 (also from unit 1123) was acquired on behalf of the Society and has been securely stored at Selhurst. Work has been undertaken to rectify damage that this unit received whilst in temporary storage.
60822 has now moved to Isfield, on the Lavender Line, to join DMBS 60122. Restoration can continue more easily.

The Society purchased three centre trailers, 60661, 60668 and 60669.
Restoration is underway on 60669 whilst the other two were acquired as a source of spares.
60668 was originally the centre car of unit 1123, but unfortunately
it was in such poor condition that it had to be quickly scrapped, at Caerwent.

In 1999, the Society purchased the only unrefurbished class 207 centre trailer,
60616 from unit 1317 (207 017). This vehicle moved to Selhurst Traincare where
bodywork restoration, and a repaint to green was undertaken. It was hoped that the society
would be able to purchase other Sussex Unit vehicles at a later date to form a complete unit.
